Case history

Integration process in the industrial machinery sector

1. The client

An important German multinational, world leader in the industrial installations sector, with 20,000 employees around the world.

2. The challenge

The client expressed its need to integrate the existing Italian branch with a newly acquired company, with a strong family-run orientation. The acquired company had technologies up to the task of conquering unexplored markets and expand its portfolio of services. Therefore highly ambitious results were expected, which is why the group chose to turn to us. Thanks to our verticality in the reference sector and on new markets the company had set its sights on, we were able to provide all the necessary support to ensure an effective integration process, as well as the correct leveraging of developed synergies.

3. The intervention

Our intervention was extremely articulated and far-reaching; a preliminary analysis step provided us with a "snap shot" of the situation at the start, which enabled us to define the start-up plan. We proceeded to act on one business unit at a time, remapping the organisation, identifying the necessary competencies for spearheading expected growth targets and selecting the finest executives and professionals, capable of concretely contributing towards the achievement of these targets. It should be noted that we worked transversally during this step, by enhancing and promoting managers already at the company where possible, and reaching out to external figures whenever the addition of new executives, selected from the best in the sector, was necessary to support the group in this important growth transition.

4. The results

The seamless integration of both companies was possible thanks to our support, culminating in the biggest European player in the reference sector, and one of the biggest ones on the global scene. Our intervention attracted excellent talented resources to a matrix-based yet elastic organisational structure, making it robust enough to embrace evolutions of the future. The process was of immense satisfaction to both parties, as shown by the fact that the client requested our ongoing support for managers in the form of targeted coaching initiatives and the enhancement of resources who report directly to management.
